Mid-Autumn Melancholy: Longing for the Piano—The Exquisite Tone of C. Bechstein (A175)

Wherever the moonlight shines, there lies our home;

Wherever our feet tread, it is but the past.

May you journey through all of life’s waxing and waning,

Yet still find your years illuminated by the eternal glow of stars and moon.

(调音新标准须依据客户要求或音乐会演出标准而确定音高440-442Hz)In the blink of an eye, another Mid-Autumn Festival is here. Re-watching the performance video from last year’s festival…One of my insights from years of piano tuning: Every C. Bechstein piano is tuned to a standard pitch of A4 = 445Hz at the German factory before shipping to customers’ homes. This higher tension is designed to compensate for the significant stretching of new strings during their first year. (Please note that alternative tuning standards can be set between 440–442Hz upon customer request or for concert performances.)

The introduction of the piano piece The Silver Clouds Chasing the Moon utilizes techniques such as trills, arpeggios, and alternating octaves to paint a vivid picture of clouds and the moon playfully chasing each other amidst gentle moonlight and drifting mists.The melody accelerates from a slow tempo before gently fading into lingering echoes. It shifts from ethereal stillness to vibrant animation, and from a faint glimmer to bright, soaring heights. Like the approaching footsteps of clouds pursuing the moon, it unveils the prelude to this mythical tableau.
